Backpacker Magazine - Hike the John Muir Trail In a Week

Backpacker Magazine - Hike the John Muir Trail In a Week DT's recommended reading -- with the caveat we expand this hike to two weeks.

Friends who have trekked the AT and are off to Bhutan to hike the Snowman Trail think we're nuts to go 20 a day. "No fun" is what they say. 16, 17 miles a day average is what I am thinking this will work out to be for me.

So I may end up starting with the DT Express and find myself on a solo pilgrimage up Whitney. Lots of time between now and then to figure it out.

Ten Tips to Ultralight Backpacking: John Muir walked this terrain with just about nothing but his poetic sense of place and a prayer. Since we're going faster than the average bear and want to have some fun, it means getting lighter with everything. Razor blade instead of a knife for instance. Want to learn about ways to cut your backpack weight to 15 lbs to cut pack weight?

Basta.
